Important Public Notices
Garbage Collection Notice:
Residential garbage collection is normally on THURSDAY and materials must be placed at the curb prior to 6:00 a.m. If the Waste Management truck goes by your home at or after 6:00 a.m. and your refuse was not at the curb, they do not make a return trip to collect it. There is no “bag” limit, but all materials must be bagged (no “boxes” of trash).
Effective at the end of October 2019 Waste Management has made a change in their routes through town, which means they could come down your street as early as 6:00 a.m. when you might be used to an afternoon pickup time. Therefore, it is very important that your garbage be placed at the curb no later than 6:00 a.m. on the day of pick-up.
Important Information for All Water Customers of the City of Clare
The City is in the process of a major rehabilitation project to replace the iron removal filters at its water treatment plant. Commencing on Tuesday, October 29th, the City will commence re-plumbing the interior of our water treatment plant; this process should take approximately two weeks to complete. We were initially concerned that this process could result in some discoloration (red to brown) in your water. But the City’s engineer has developed a process to preclude the discoloration. We are very confident that this process will work, and you will not notice any discoloration. But if discoloration does occur, the water is not harmful - it’s simply naturally occurring iron. However, if there is discoloration, it may cause damage to sensitive (whites, certain other light colors, & delicates) laundry items. As a precaution we recommend you run a faucet for at least 30 seconds to determine if there is discoloration before attempting to launder delicate or light-colored clothing. The City will continue chlorinating and treating the water during this period. If you have questions, contact the City at 989.386-7541 ext. 201. Thank you for your patience and consideration as we work to improve the City’s public water system. The City of Clare is an equal opportunity provider and employer.
